Logistics services provider Logwin from Frankfurt offers industry solutions for the media and press. When daily newspapers are shipped, then time plays a decisive role. Since July 1, 2009 media shipments, such as newspapers or magazines, that Logwin exports to overseas countries or countries with a special financial status have had to be registered electronically with customs through the ATLAS system. Logwin uses the ATLAS Export solution of Riege Software International for this purpose.

Meerbusch, Germany – Logwin carries out an average of 40,000 to 50,000 export registrations each year in Frankfurt with the Scope ATLAS Export programme. Wilhelm Hülpüsch, Head of Aircargo Solutions Media for Logwin in Frankfurt, explains what is really vital for the logistics company: “Our most important software requirements for ATLAS Exports are flexibility, reliability and the option to integrate it into our processes and existing IT structure. We need an individual and suitable solution that is specially designed for systemised freight.”

Riege Software International has therefore adapted data entry with a special interface for Logwin. As soon as Logwin receives data for an export order from its customer, these are displayed in Scope ATLAS Export ready for processing since the data are automatically forwarded from external ERP systems directly into the Riege system. This guarantees Logwin and its customers, which include large German publishing groups, optimal process connections.

The Scope ATLAS Export user can always link the data from a trading invoice to an MRN (Movement Reference Number), deal with the export registration, delivery or transport information and rapidly forward the appropriate registration to the customs authorities. The export process is completed with the sent confirmation and the following sent record.

The logistics company handles customs formalities itself since the time factor is especially decisive for its industry solution and shipments must be exactly planned in terms of time. Scope ATLAS Export helps the user with a simple-to-use user interface, integrated help functions, specific customs terms and code lists automatically recorded in the system as well as an integrated plausibility check (validation) so that the export registrations can be sent technically correct to the customs authorities.

Hülpüsch confirms that the feared chaos with the switchover to the electronic procedure did not occur. “From our point of view, communications with customs have functioned perfectly since July,” he says. Users are satisfied with the user-friendliness of the programme. The basic data is stored in Scope ATLAS Export and can be called up for use at any time. The transport company saves valuable time with the export control option that the system offers. Logwin has used Riege Software International for its air freight shipments since 1993. The individual and reliable system solution of the IT provider has also proven itself with ATLAS exports.
