What started in 1965 with a 20 lb. air freight shipment grew into a leading forwarding enterprise with a US$400M turnover and more than 800 staff in branches in Europe, America, Asia and Australia.

In 1993, driven by its ongoing growth, EMO-TRANS decided to use Procars, a highly innovative TMS developed by Riege Software International. Procars met the demands of their customers and assured the future of EMO’s international business. In 2013 EMO-TRANS were ready for the next generation TMS and resolved to migrate from Procars to its smart and highly sophisticated successor Scope.

The challenges were great and many: 5 companies with 13 branches had to migrate within a fixed and short time-window, with difficulties occurring as the deadline drew closer. The development of a special program for EMO-TRANS’ consolidation department – one of the largest in the entire business – was complex and complicated with more than one attempt required to deliver a solution fit for EMO-TRANS’ demands and meeting their expectations.

The final result was more than satisfactory, as were several additional projects, such as daily import of rates, a new module for quotes, expansion of the CRM module and interfaces to various partners.

Allied to our own expertise and skills was the outstanding engagement, the precise analysis and the constructive cooperation of EMO-TRANS’ project management that assured the on schedule accomplishment of the migration. Under the direction of Randolph Reichel, EMO professionals Sandra Stuetz (air and customs), Maria Carcanella (IT) and Thorsten Peters (sea) contributed efficiently and deserve all the credit for successful completion the project.

Thus the first branch went live in summer 2014, the last one in spring 2015. Although some issues are still to be clarified and finalized, everyone at EMO-TRANS who works with Scope, from project management to operators doing their daily business, all have declared themselves happy with Scope. Just in time to celebrate the company’s 50th anniversary.

What else can we say but: „Thank you very much everybody for your substantial support and – once again, happy birthday, EMO-TRANS!“
